1. How do your products represent social groups or issues?
The escape from the movie means a lot to us. The film talks about something that, in today's days, is undoubtedly a concern, bullying. Our main character Mason is faced with many problems in the film, not only at home, but also in school. Despite his disability, he is mistreated by his dad, peers and even principals. Mason is autistic and it can be very difficult, because it can go very wrong without anyone to continuously warn you and keep an eye on your stuff. In the short film, that happens and it also happens in real life. Most kids get tired of their daily lives and just can't bear it anymore, they either take their rage on other people or themselves. That's more than you can think of every year, and we tried to demonstrate in our short film how horrible the consequences of these actions can be. We want to raise awareness and help minimize the number of people who, because of bullying, harm themselves or injure others. You may think it's never going to happen to you or your close friend, but this is more normal than you might think.
2. How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of ‘branding’?
Our short film has a very popular subject that can be fascinating for many individuals. This type of bullying occurs more frequently than you would expect, and so it draws attention from a lot of people who want to raise awareness of the problem by making a movie like this. In particular, teachers are our primary focus because most of them are there, where everything occurs in school, and we want them to know how to react to a situation like that. Since our subject is very popular, I think it will draw the attention of many colleges to build some kind of brand for it. Schools may be eager to show our film to their students so that they can avoid anything similar from happening at their school.
3. How do your products engage with the audience?
This short movie is more about the viewer and who's watching it. The primary aim of our short film is to raise public awareness of this major problem that we have, particularly with children with disabilities such as autism, and their issues with bullying. After the viewer views our movie, we hope they will understand how unfair it is to do anything like that to a child or even an adult. We hope that people will start supporting each other after watching our film, instead of making fun of one another because of their differences. We want to communicate with the viewer in such a way that they want to do better and be better people after watching the film. We want them to know that there are many individuals around them who struggle at home or at school and that a simple action such as a smile can alter their entire day or deter the, from choices that may be detrimental to others. From the first minute to the last, we want to grab the audience's attention so that they don't have any little details they can get. We want to get them on the edge of their seats and make them feel mad that the movie is over.
4. How did your research inform your products and the way they use or challenge conventions?
We've done extensive research on this subject because it's a very sensitive topic to speak about and we didn't want to do anything wrong in some shape or form and be insensitive. We made sure that we had done as much testing as possible, so that no conventions were questioned. For a few reasons, we challenged conventions in past work, but this year we felt that this subject was unique and we might mess up and be able to express the message we want to convey in the first place by challenging conventions. We didn't want to add something that was so out of context so the whole emphasis of our movie would be taken away. We want to focus on the child and the challenges that he has been going through. Particularly from the main character, we didn't have much dialogue because we don't want to take the audience's attention from what's happening at the moment. We were willing not to question norms because of the research we did and the film turned out even better than we expected it to be.
My partner and I received a response today from the studio that holds the background music rights that we intend to use for our short film. Sadly, we weren't allowed to use the album. We're really angry. Luckily, we had replacement music for us to use. One of the first ones who contacted us back granting us permission to use their album was the studio that owns the best song we had as a backup. What we need now is to fill out a questionnaire that outlines our project in more depth, and we should be fine. I'm so happy we were willing to be a cause that might have been such a huge challenge. January 12 is the final due date for our project. If we had not actually emailed the studio responsible for the film's rights, we certainly wouldn't have received a response before our project was due. We've got to move on now. I'm happy we've been able to address these problems, but before the deadline, there are a few more things to do. This weekend, we are re-filming a few scenes to see how we can get them to look better. I already like how they look, but because my partner and I are getting together this week to work on our film poster, we're going to use the opportunity to film as well. We will also start working on our posters, as I reported earlier this weekend. We already have a sort of idea of what they're going to look like, so when we really start working, several things will change. It shouldn't take long to do it, but it's a very fun thing to do. Our deadline is very rapidly approaching. I think we're on target, and a couple of days before that, we should finish it absolutely. I can't wait to actually apply anything and hear our teachers' input. Let's hope everybody enjoys our short film and shares it with more people.
My partner and I completed our film last week and got input from it. It was very liked by the guy who watched our film and pointed out some shooting errors that we made. After getting the input me and my husband agreed to reshoot some scenes that needed repair. Last weekend, we wanted to film. Until I had a game planned for that day and my partner was unable to film the day before, all was going fine. We ended up choosing that day not to film and postponing it to this weekend as we're both going to be free. When we shoot this weekend, we're going to reshoot three of the scenes that happened inside the home. This is very cool, because we're not going to rely on the weather to complete our project. We had some issues with the audio during the first scene. We were not able to hear part of the scene's dialogue while viewing the scene, and it needs to be resolved as soon as possible. We were able to see one of our friend's legs in the second scene as the letters dropped on the deck. We weren't able to remove his foot from the frame, so we're going to have to film the scene again. Since the scene is very quick, it won't be that hard of a patch. The scene where the main character is drunk is the third and last scene that has to be fixed. We attempted to use a high angle to demonstrate it. The angle didn't look that big when we saw the scene in the video, so we're going to try and reshoot the scene and boost the camera higher when we do it. We'll also revisit any other scenes in more detail if we have time to see how we can expand on them if we can. Hopefully, this weekend, all will go well and we'll be able to film. I'm very excited to finish our film and see what will turn out to be the final product.
Cheerful Christmas! We still have work to do, even though today is a holiday. I began the editing process for our film today. This is one of the most thrilling places for me. It's when you can see how beyond the storyboard the film would really look like. We do have a few scenes to reshoot, but we have wanted to start editing the stuff we already have. Having a head start is crucial because we don't know whether we are going to run into any issues while editing. Being ahead of schedule is helpful so we have time to correct things before the deadline if anything happens. I enjoy editing short videos and images very much. Until the date, time to patch it. I enjoy editing short videos and images very much. I come to the realization that editing short videos and photographs is very different from editing a short movie. When editing a short film, there is a lot of work to be completed. There are a lot of little things that need to be paid attention to by me and my wife to make our movie perfect. I have been doing a number of studies to acquire editing experience. I have learned a few things, but I will surely learn more. I'm already working on uploading to my machine a new editing app. The current software that I use is very sluggish, and when it comes to editing, it doesn't provide many choices. Mario, my partner, is a very good actor. Ever since we began working together, he has been showing me a lot. I think we're going to make a great team, and that our film is going to be acted and edited very well.
Today, my husband and I agreed to re-film them. We concluded that we didn't like how certain scenes turned out after seeing the raw result of our short film. There weren't a few scenes turning out the way we planned, so we wanted to re-film and change them a little bit. We tried to re-film our scenes, but we agreed to delay it to next week as it was close to Christmas and both me and my husband were going to be out of town. I just wish we were able to film this week. I hate feeling like something is wrong with what we've done. As soon as possible, I want to resolve this dilemma and I will. In comparison, I also enjoyed what the other scenes were like. It turned out exactly as we intended, and I'm so pleased. I will begin editing them very soon. I'm not sure whether I can start cutting the scenes I want right now or wait for the rest of my script to be reshooted. It is good to get everything finished and organized for the process of editing. It's important to get a head start as well and to speed things up. Our film is progressing at a decent rate, so I don't think I'm going to hurry it out. The deadline is not that far off, so it shouldn't take us long to complete the last few moves. Overall, I'm very comfortable with things going on. My wife and I have been working together and it is paying off. I can't wait to get editing and start to see what the movie is going to look like. I think there's a lot of promise in our film and it'll look amazing. I will remember to keep you posted.
We reviewed and followed all of the social media movies of our classmates today. On social media sites like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, we all build profiles. For our short film, we also built a YouTube channel. It was very cool to see all the various kinds of films and social media that our classmates had. I can't wait to see what the finished product would be like after looking at some of their films and reading a review of them. We decided to make sure they would attract a lot of interest as my partner and I built our accounts. Our accounts were very simple at first. In order to make our pages more colorful, my husband and I agreed to take photographs whilst filming to share on them. We got a lot of positive feedback after adding our photos, and I was very pleased with the final product. We have wanted to apply to our website the same ones. That was a brilliant idea, because it looked so much better on our website. With just our social media profiles and biographies, we thought the website looked bare before. That's why we came up with the concept of bringing to our website photos from our social media. We'll probably be able to take more photos and upload them when we finish shooting. We are almost finished shooting and we will make sure to launch the editing process when we do. Editing takes such a long time. My husband and I have to make sure that all is well cut and that the scenes pass smoothly. We also came up with the concept of taking photographs of our short film editing party. The videos aren't going to be as entertaining as our films, but we think it's important to show viewers all the steps that happen before a movie is finished. I'm very excited to be close to completing filming at last. I can't wait to get the editing underway. Editing is one of the most thrilling sections for me, and it's when you can actually see what the film could look like.
